Great news for Queensland first home buyers! From July 1, the state government’s Great Start Grant for first homeowners will increase from $15,000 to $20,000.
The increase was announced by Treasurer Curtis Pitt at a Queensland Media Club lunch, where he told attendants the initiative would run for 12 months and form a central part of the government’s budget. With the restructuring comes a name change and from 1st July 2016, it will be known as the Queensland First Home Owners’ Grant, according to a June 9 Brisbane Times article.
The Treasurer said the revamped grant for first home buyers will boost confidence in the housing market and position Queensland as an even better property market for the first home buyer.
“This is a great time to build in Queensland … and the Palaszczuk government’s First Home Owners Grant will make it even easier to enter the property market,” he said.
