All Australian states have homeowner assistance schemes, but the government building grant amounts and eligibility criteria differ between them. It can get a bit confusing, so to help you out we’ve outlined the types of grants available in each state and how much you can get.
Queensland Building Grants
In Queensland, you’ll be able to claim the First Home Buyers Grant if you have never owned a home before. It’s $15,000 towards a new house that costs less than $750,000, this includes the price of the house and land. New South Wales

Victoria

Western Australia
The First Home Buyers Grant in Western Australia is $10,000. This grant works differently depending on where in WA you’re building. The 26th parallel is a geographical line that horizontally crosses the middle of Australia. If your new home is south of this line, the grant is applicable for a new home up to $750,000 and north of this line, it can be used on homes up to $1 million.
